In 2002, our surgical team developed their own lumbar transmuscular approach, based on Wiltse’s, and combined it with the TLIF technique described by Jurgen Harms in 1998. The result was a minimally invasive TLIF that soon took profit of the percutaneous pedicle screws designed by Kevin Foley at that time. It was the blooming of an era and our team hasn’t stopped doing it so far. More than ten years later, hundreds of patients can celebrate the good results of their operations.
