El Dr. Ferrández Sempere inició su carrera en 1989, cursando estudios de Medicina y Cirugía en la Universidad de Navarra. Posteriormente se formó como Neurocirujano en el Hospital Universitario “Miguel Servet” de Zaragoza. Su área de actividad incluye técnicas avanzadas en cirugía de columna vertebral y del dolor.
Se trasladó temporalmente al Toronto Western Hospital, donde adquirió experiencia con los procedimientos de estimulación cerebral profunda en el Departamento dirigido por el Dr. A.M. Lozano, máxima autoridad mundial en este campo. Al retornar a Zaragoza fue fundador de la Unidad de Cirugía de Parkinson en el Hospital “Miguel Servet”, la cual recibió el Premio Aragoneses del Año en Ciencia en 2002.
Durante 2003 empezó a practicar dos técnicas nunca antes realizadas en España: la cirugía de fusión vertebral mínimamente invasiva, presentada en el V Congreso de la Sociedad Española de NeuroRaquis en 2005 y la implantación de electrodos medulares bajo raquianestesia…
