Alicante-Elche Airport
The new terminal building of the International Airport of Alicante-Elche was inaugurated in 2011. It handles 9 million passengers per year, although it was designed with a much higher capability due to the expected growth of airtraffic in the area. Business and Tourism are the mainstays of the regional economy.
A number of regular and low-cost companies offer direct flights from main cities in Europe, particularly the United Kingdom.
